Each county in New York State has a government body known as the support collection or support enforcement unit. The support collection unit monitors the collection and disbursement of child support payments.
Support collection is very effective at collecting child support from people who work for the government or large companies. They simply take the money from the paying parent’s paycheck. Support collection unit typically does not do a great job of collecting support from self-employed individuals.
If you are seeking child support, you want the payments to go through support collection unit. You are entitled to this under New York law.
